A simple method to remotely control a Sony camera with a mobile phone and transfer photos
I will introduce a method to connect a Sony camera with a mobile phone without using a PC, allowing you to use it as a remote control or to view and transfer photos and videos stored in the camera to your mobile phone.
connect your camera to imaging edge mobile
Install the App: First, you need to install the “Imaging Edge Mobile” app on your mobile device. You can find this app on your device’s app store (Google Play Store for Android or Apple App Store for iOS).
Camera Setup:
Make sure your Sony camera is compatible with the Imaging Edge Mobile app. Refer to the Sony website for a list of supported cameras.
Enable Wi-Fi on your Sony camera. Look for the Wi-Fi settings in your camera’s menu.
Create a Wi-Fi connection between your mobile device and the camera. On your camera, select the option to connect to a smartphone.
Connect to the Camera:
Open the Imaging Edge Mobile app on your mobile device.
Go to the app’s connection settings and select your camera’s Wi-Fi network from the available networks. You may need to enter the Wi-Fi password if prompted.
Establish the Connection:
Once connected, your mobile device should display a live view of what the camera sees.
You can now use your mobile device as a remote control for the camera. You can adjust settings, take photos, and start/stop video recording from the app.
Transfer Photos and Videos:
In the Imaging Edge Mobile app, you can browse and select photos and videos stored on your camera.
Transfer them to your mobile device by selecting the desired files and choosing the “Transfer” option.
Additional Features:
Depending on your camera model and the app version, you may have access to additional features like location information tagging, remote playback, and more.
Disconnect and Exit: When you’re done using the app, make sure to disconnect the Wi-Fi connection between your mobile device and the camera. This helps conserve battery life on both devices.
